Jason Minh Alt, Director

Responsibilities: Oversees the overall operation, programs and services of the Office of Student Life & Community Partnerships  and represents the OSL on various campus wide committees, including co-chair of the Retention committee and chair of the Diversity Initiatives committee.

Jay is originally from South Viet Nam and was raised in Michigan. He received his BS in Sociology, Criminal Justice and Psychology in 1998 and his M.Ed. in 2000, both from Grand Valley State University, which is located in Allendale, Michigan.


Rebecca Snyder Halligan, Assistant Director of Student Life

Responsibilities: Serves as one of the coordinators of New Student Orientation and assists with several major campus events including Family Day, Pancake Madness, the Student Awards Ceremony, Senior Days and Commencement. Also serves as the OSL representative on the START committee.

Rebecca is a born and raised Vermonter.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Music (vocal performance) at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA.  She attended University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where she received her M.Ed. in Higher Education.  Her professional interests include student learning and development, student life,  and women in higher education.   When she is not planning events, she enjoys singing, cooking, traveling, spending time with her husband and playing with her two cats!


Melissa Wheeler, Assistant Director of Community Partnerships melissa.wheeler@purchase.edumelissa.JPG

Responsibilities: Serves as the primary PSGA advisor; coordinates commuter services; and serves as the OSL representative on the Admissions Open House committee.

Melissa received her B.A. in Psychology and M.A. in Higher Education Administration from The University of Akron in Ohio.  As a commuter student throughout college, Melissa is passionate about improving commuter services at Purchase College.  Her professional interests include service learning and student development.  When she's not working with students, she enjoys playing softball, volleyball, swimming, hiking and reading.
