
PURPOSE
The OSL&CP Programming Grant has been developed to enhance the quality of life at
Purchase College, SUNY. Funding may be granted to student groups that provide scholastic, recreational, spiritual, intellectual, cultural, political and social opportunities for interaction through exceptional programming. Purchase College continues to encourage and support student programs and challenges groups to expand their horizons by implementing new and innovative programs.
GOALS
The following are the goals of the grant:
• to develop a sense of community and school spirit on the weekends
• to foster creativity, innovation and enthusiasm
• to bridge communication and encourage networking through collaboration
• to support events that are new to the campus community
GRANT THEMES
All applicants for the Programming grant must support at least one of the following themes. Description of theme(s) should be included in the grant application:
• Civic Engagement
o These programs should support civic engagement in any capacity, including but not limited to on and off-campus service trips, community events, civic engagement leadership and education.
• Weekend Life
o These programs should support social programming on Friday and Saturday on SUNY Purchase’s campus. These programs should provide on and off-campus students social opportunities to ensure that our students remain on campus for the weekend.
• Academic
o These programs should support academic relationships and the content should be educational in nature. Collaborations with academic departments and programs is essential.
• Diversity
o These programs should celebrate and educate diversity in the content of the program.
• Cohort
o These programs should follow specific themes relevant to the cohort experience (Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior). Programs should strive to enhance individual cohort experiences.

FUNDING & SELECTION
The Office of Student Life & Community Partnerships provides grants to promote new and innovative campus programs. The programming grant is offered every semester, with individual grant funding up to $250. Of the maximum grant offered, $200 is from IFR state funding and $50 from PCA.
Ultimately, those groups who receive funding must demonstrate through the grant application that their program:
• is new to the campus community
• demonstrates a high level of creativity and innovation
• demonstrates collaboration with different campus / community entities
• promotes school spirit and a sense of community
• is well thought out, detailed, organized and free of grammatical errors
UTILIZING FUNDS
Grant awardees will be required to meet with the Assistant Director of Student Life to assist with the usage of funds and to review campus policies.
**Please note that all purchases must be tax-exempt. OSL&CP will provide appropriate forms for purchasing**
Funding from IFR funds CAN support expenses such as: Supplies, online purchases, chartwells food and performance contracts.
Funding from PCA funds CAN support expenses such as: Off-campus food purchases, gift cards, and any purchase made in cash.
Funding for this grant CANNOT support the following items: Past due invoices, illegal purchases, purchases unrelated to program, and personal reimbursement.

APPLICATION PROCESS
FALL 2011 PROGRAMS
• Completed applications are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout each semester until all funds are allocated.
• Grants are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Completed applications will be accepted for programs from September 2011 until January 2011 starting on September 5th, 2011.
• Completed applications must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of program.
• Applicants will be notified of grant status no more than 3 business days after grant is submitted.
SPRING 2012 PROGRAMS
• Completed applications are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout each semester until all funds are allocated.
• Grants are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Completed applications will be accepted for programs from February 2012 until May 2012 starting on February 1st, 2011.
• Completed applications must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of program.
• Applicants will be notified of grant status no more than 3 business days after grant is submitted.
