How do I get involved?
If you want to get involved in project focus, please email projectfocus@purchase.edu
If you are interested in planning or participating in a service day, please email campus.events@purchase.edu
What if I have an idea for a service project?
We would LOVE to hear your idea and we are always looking for people to get involved. If you have an idea for a service project, please email campus.events@purchase.edu. The Coordinators of The Office of Student Life & Community Partnerships will be happy to work with you on getting the service day planned!
Where can I find out about past service projects?
If you explore our Volunteerism page, you can see where we have volunteered in the past and present. If we are not currently partners with an organization that you want to get involved with, please email us and we will do our best to get involved!
What’s the difference between Project Focus and Service Days?
Project Focus is a program of interns forming mentoring relationships with under-served youth in local k-12 schools to further leadership, academic, and social skills. Trips through Project Focus are weekly and only include Project Focus Interns. Service Days are monthly service trips to various local organizations and are open to any Purchase student, faculty, or staff. They are planned by Student Life Assistants.
Can I be a part of Project Focus without being an intern?
Yes. There are currently two Project Focus sites that have volunteers and not interns. Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Port Chester Library both have volunteers in attendance.
What are the internship requirements for Project Focus?
The requirements are that you attend a weekly Project Focus class and participate in assigned site visit weekly or bi-weekly.
