
Volunteerism is inclusive of the servies provided to support the needs of a community. The differenec between volunteerism and service learning is in the structured academic outcomes that come from performing service.
Volunteerism at Purchase College, SUNY is supported through several programs facilitated by the Office of Student Life & Community Partnerships.
The first is a campus wide initiative called Project Focus, which encourages all students, faculty, and staff to get involved with serving others in the community.
There are also monthly service days, which allows students not involved in Project Focus to impact their community through trips to soup kitchens, homeless shelters, animal shelters and many others!
The final volunteer opportunity is through volunteering at a campus visit. Frequently, local schools will have campus visits to Purchase College, where they learn about college and also have the opportunity to experience what Purchase College has to offer!
