Purchase College President Thomas J. Schwarz and Provost Elizabeth Langland will be joined by Ambassador Robert Gosende, SUNY Associate Vice Chancellor for International Programs at a reception to celebrate the grand opening of the SUNY Center for Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) at Purchase on Wednesday, September 27. The reception begins at 5 PM in the Presidentâ€™s Conference Room in the Student Services Building.
Under the leadership of Purchase Professor Jon Rubin, the COIL Center, which will serve as a resource to faculty throughout the SUNY system, symbolizes Purchaseâ€™s growing commitment to internationalization.
As director of the COIL Center, Professor Rubin will provide training for participating SUNY faculty and work with them in the development of new curriculum for online learning with an international dimension. The Center will also seek to identify and cultivate international partners for online team teaching and to identify and recruit international students for online courses and degree programs.
Jon Rubin is an Associate Professor of Film in the Purchase College School of the Arts, Conservatory of Theatre Arts & Film. He is one of the leading specialists in international online learning.
