PROFESSOR ANTHONY F. LEMIEUX AWARDED FELLOWSHIP TO STUDY TERRORISM

Purchase College Psychology Professor Anthony F. Lemieux has been awarded a $5,000 fellowship to study responses to terrorism. Dr. Lemieux’s fellowship is one of 21 awarded by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START). 

The 2006-2007 fellows were chosen after a rigorous and competitive selection process. Each fellow will work closely with their mentor in an effort to train the next generation of terrorism and counterterrorism researchers.

Dr. Lemieux is an Associate Professor of Psychology in the School of Natural and Social Sciences at Purchase College. A social psychologist, among his research interests are emotional responses and coping related to terrorism and violence.

He holds a BA in psychology and sociology from Boston College, and received his MA and PhD in social psychology from the University of Connecticut, Storrs.

START is a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence based at the University of Maryland. The Center focuses primarily on the behavioral and social science aspects of terrorism.
