Cecily Parks, one of the winners of the Poetry Society of America’s Chapbook Competition, will conduct a poetry reading at Purchase College on Tuesday, April 25. The reading begins at 8 PM in the Charles and Lilly Port Creative Writing Center, Room 2026A in the Durst Family Humanities Building. The reading is free and open to the public. The poetry reading is part of a series in which the winners of the chapbook competition have been visiting the Purchase College campus this year to teach a class to students and hold a public poetry reading for the Purchase community. The visits are sponsored by the Royal and Shirley Durst Chair in Literature for Creative Writing.

Cecily Parks was the recipient of the Margaret Bridgman Scholarship in Poetry for the 2005 Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference. Her poems have appeared in Five Points, The Paris Review, The Virginia Quarterly Review, The Yale Review, and elsewhere. She lives in New York City.
