PURCHASE STUDENT ACCEPTED INTO NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION SUMMER RESEARCH METHODS PROGRAM

Randolph Noisette, Spring Valley, NY, an anthropology major at Purchase College, State University of New York, has been accepted into the National Science Foundation’s Summer Research Methods Program at the University of North Texas.

During the 10-week program he will he will receive extensive instruction in theory, methods, data collection and interpretation, research skills and writing.  The second half of the program consists of focused research on a specific research program or working as an assistant to a faculty member and concludes with a research report.

The program involves training for undergraduate students from underrepresented groups in social science research methods.  It aims to promote improvement in the research and scholarship of first generation college students in the United States through student and faculty mentoring, research and study skill enhancement.  The program provides a stipend and access to resources and programs that aid with graduate admissions.
