Purchase Symphonic Winds Performs December1 at 7 PM

Graham Ashton conducts the Purchase Symphonic Winds at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College on December 1 at 7 PM in a concert of symphonic and wind classics by George Gershwin, Vincent Persichetti, Paul Hindemith and Richard Strauss.  The concert features with horn soloist Peter Reit.

The performance will include: Cuban overture by George Gershwin; Horn Concerto No.1 by Richard Strauss featuring soloist Peter Reit; Psalm by Vincent Persichetti; and Symphony in Bb by Paul Hindemith.

  

Peter Reit is Professor of Horn at Purchase College and plays Principal Horn with the Westchester Philharmonic, Greenwich Symphony and Scandia Symphony Orchestra. He is Associate Principal Horn with the Stamford Symphony and in his twenty-second year with the Broadway hit Phantom of the Opera. 

 

Conductor Graham Ashton is Chair of Brass at Purchase College and a composer and arranger who has written for film and concerts. He is a member of the New York Chamber Brass and the contemporary ensemble FIRES-New York. He has recorded commercial albums with Paul McCartney, Phil Collins, Barbara Streisand and Van Morrison.

 

The 40 member Symphonic Winds ensemble includes over 40 musicians from the renowned Purchase College School of the Arts Conservatory of Music.
