New Music & Culture Symposium Features Suzanne Farrin & Laura Kaminsky

Composers and performers from SUNY colleges and universities gathered at SUNY Plattsburgh for the New Music & Culture Symposium. Chamber works by Suzanne Farrin and Laura Kaminsky were performed.

 

The symposium on October 1 included a lecture and demonstration and a performance  by SUNY Stony Brook musicians Daniel Panner (viola), Ann Elsworth (horn), Piero Guimaraes (percussion) and Ellen Hwangbo (Piano).

The concert included a world premiere of “Yellow Ribbons No. 47” for solo horn, composed by Max Lifchitz of SUNY Albany for Anne Ellsworth of Stony Brook.

 

The concert concluded with Robert Schumann’s “Adagio and Alegra” for viola and piano in honor of his 200th birthday.
