PURCHASE ALUM STANLEY TUCCI STARS IN “JULIE & JULIA”
Stanley Tucci, Class of ’82, portrays Julia Child’s husband Paul in the newly released film “Julie & Julia” written and directed by Nora Ephron.
The film tells the story of two women who discover their inner selves through gourmet cooking.
Julia Child (played by Meryl Streep), becomes the famous cookbook author and TV personality loyally supported by her husband Paul, a foreign diplomat in Paris when they met.
Julie Powell (played by Amy Adams) is an unknown Queens housewife who blogs about her attempt to cook all 524 recipes from Julia Child’s legendary tome “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” in a single year.
Kirk Honeycutt of Hollywood Reporter notes Tucci played Paul “with modest self-effacement against Streep’s larger-than-life Julia-- encouraging his beloved wife’s every experiment in the kitchen and the writing of her seminal book.”
Tucci’s next project begins in the fall. He will direct his screenplay “The Hunter” starring Pierce Brosnan, Patricia Clarkson and Julianne Moore. It is a coming of age story is set in the aristocracy of Upper Westchester County. Brosnan will play a middle-aged man clinging to memories of his once-charmed life and world.
